Who are these who are called the remnant? What is this signal that we will see? Why does God offer his hand a second time? Where will God gather these people to? When is all this going to happen?
In That Day
Isaiah 11:11-12… And it must occur in that day that Jehovah will again offer his hand, a second time, to acquire (H7069) the remnant of his people who will remain (H7604) over from Assyria and from Egypt and from Pathros and from Cush and from Elam and from Shinar and from Hamath and from the islands of the sea. And he will certainly raise up a signal (H5251) for the nations and gather the dispersed ones of Israel; and the scattered ones of Judah he will collect together from the four extremities of the earth.
This passage of scripture said, “in that day” so, what day is God speaking of?
Timing is everything when looking at God’s prophecies, without a point of reference we could actually get lost in time, not knowing when or how God’s word would or could be fulfilled.
Do you think God wants us to know about this timetable? God has been very specific about his prophecies in the past, even giving detailed clues to timing. God disclosed his timetable about the appearance of the Messiah with his prophet at Daniel 9:25-27.
So, what day is God speaking of at Isaiah 11:11? If we would go back and reread it in context, we will see that the promised root of Jesse the heir to the throne of David would be seen. This chosen one will begin to give a reproof; he will strike the earth with his mouth, and he will judge the wicked by putting them to death. It will be at this time that a second remnant will be gathered. God will give his signal, then the nations will help bring God’s people back together again. So, the timing is the day of judgment.
Where will these be gathered you might ask? Isaiah is very clear at the passage of Scripture found in verse 10 and it says: “his resting place must become glorious.” Yes, the nations will know where to bring God’s people because the resting place will become known as the judgment throne, for the King of kings and Lord of lords.
So, we can see that the signal is something that is seen and is obvious to all, and the one being seen is the King of kings and Lord of lords who is judging the earth. And the blessing of God will be seen upon the new Jerusalem the place of God’s sanctuary. Isaiah 60:1-22
Blessed Is He
Blessed is he who comes in the name of Jehovah he who has the legal right.
Genesis 49:10… The scepter will not turn aside from Judah, neither the commander’s staff from between his feet, until Shiloh comes; and to him the obedience of the peoples will belong.
So, the prophecy is very clear that Shiloh will come, he who has the legal right and the obedience of all the peoples will be toward him.
Matthew 25:31-32… When the Son of man arrives in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit down on his glorious throne. And all the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate people one from another, just as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.
Resistance to this God-given authority will be judged as an act of wickedness.
Philippians 2:9-11… For this very reason also, God exalted him to a superior position and kindly gave him the name that is above every name, so that in the name of Jesus every knee should bend of those in heaven and those on earth and those under the ground, and every tongue should openly acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father.
God is given his name to this son of righteousness and all the obedience of the nation’s belongs to this very one, he is now Lord of lords and King of kings.
Revelation 19:11-16… And I saw the heaven opened and look! a white horse. And the one seated upon it is called Faithful and True, and he judges and carries on war in righteousness. 12 His eyes are a fiery flame, and upon his head are many diadems. He has a name written that no one knows but he himself, 13 and he is arrayed with an outer garment sprinkled with blood, and the name he is called is The Word of God. 14 Also, the armies that were in heaven were following him on white horses, and they were clothed in white, clean, fine linen. 15 And out of his mouth there protrudes a sharp long sword, that he may strike the nations with it, and he will shepherd them with a rod of iron. He treads too the winepress of the anger of the wrath of God the Almighty. 16 And upon his outer garment, even upon his thigh, he has a name written, King of kings and Lord of lords.
Why does God offer his hand a second time, and what does that mean?
Revelation 19:17-21… I saw also an angel standing in the sun, and he cried out with a loud voice and said to all the birds that fly in midheaven: “Come here, be gathered together to the great evening meal of God, 18 that YOU may eat the fleshy parts of kings and the fleshy parts of military commanders and the fleshy parts of strong men and the fleshy parts of horses and of those seated upon them, and the fleshy parts of all, of freemen as well as of slaves and of small ones and great.” 19 And I saw the wild beast and the kings of the earth and their armies gathered together to wage the war with the one seated on the horse and with his army. 20 And the wild beast was caught, and along with it the false prophet that performed in front of it the signs with which he misled those who received the mark of the wild beast and those who render worship to its image. While still alive, they both were hurled into the fiery lake that burns with Sulphur. 21 But the rest were killed off with the long sword of the one seated on the horse, which [sword] proceeded out of his mouth. And all the birds were filled from the fleshy parts of them.
How do people become dispersed and scattered, is it not through conflict and strife? War causes many people to become refugees as they flee too safety.
So, when we as humans offer our hand to another it is a sign of friendship or peace. When God offers his hand to mankind, we could see it as an offer of help. But the Hebrew word used at Isaiah 11:11 is (qanah) #H7069 and it means to acquire, as to gain by acquisition. Can you not see that God would offer his hand in a time like this?
So, God is going to acquire by acquisition a remnant from those who are left over from the judgement upon mankind. Christ will in turn make them alive in due time because the hand of God is with them.
1 Corinthians 15:20-25… However, now Christ has been raised up from the dead, the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep [in death]. For since death is through a man, resurrection of the dead is also through a man. For just as in Adam all are dying, so also in the Christ all will be made alive. But each one in his own rank: Christ the first fruits, afterward those who belong to the Christ during his presence. Next, the end, when he hands over the kingdom to his God and Father, when he has brought to nothing all government and all authority and power. For he must rule as king until [God] has put all enemies under his feet.
There is to be a resurrection of the dead and in time there will be those who will be made alive at the end of Christ rule.
God intends to have a people set apart specifically for him for his namesake. Deuteronomy 7:6
1 Peter 2:9… But YOU are “a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for special possession, that YOU should declare abroad the excellencies” of the one that called YOU out of darkness into his wonderful light.
