What do we know about the Wild Beast? Who is the Wild Beast? Why would people worship the Wild Beast? When will it act with it authority?
Let us review some Scriptures that talk about the wild beast to figure out who, why, and when it acts. Revelation chapter 17 has a lot to say about the wild beast. We will pick out two things to talk about but it’s best that you go read the whole chapter.
Revelation 17:16… And the ten horns that you saw, and the wild beast, these will hate the harlot and will make her devastated and naked and will eat up her fleshy parts and will completely burn her with fire.
One of the actions that the Wild Beast performs is against the harlot who is referred to as Babylon the great. This action carries out the very thing that God wants. Revelation 17:17
Revelation 17:11… And the wild beast that was but is not, it is also itself an eighth [king], but springs from the seven, and it goes off into destruction.
The wild beast is spoken as having a rulership role over mankind. The Wild Beast also makes war with the two witnesses who are advocating God’s kingdom by means of Christ Jesus.
Revelation 11:7… And when they have finished their witnessing, the wild beast that ascends out of the abyss will make war with them and conquer them and kill them.
The two witnesses who are advocating God’s kingdom are killed but that only happens after the Two Witness finish there witnessing work. What else do the Scriptures reveal about the Wild Beast and its kingdom?
Revelation 13:1-2… And it stood still upon the sand of the sea. And I saw a wild beast ascending out of the sea, with ten horns and seven heads, and upon its horns ten diadems, but upon its heads blasphemous names. Now the wild beast that I saw was like a leopard, but its feet were as those of a bear, and its mouth was as a lion’s mouth. And the dragon gave to [the beast] its power and its throne and great authority.
The abyss is the watery deep prison that the wicked spirits were placed in until their final action then judgment. So, the wild beast is a union of spirits controlling the entities that govern over the earthly affairs of mankind. Notice the description of them has characteristics of passed known earthly governments specially as it ties back into the visions of Daniel. The Wild Beast is given the power, throne, and authority from the Dragon.
Who would willingly worship the Wild Beast?
Revelation 13:3-4… And I saw one of its heads as though slaughtered to death, but its death-stroke got healed, and all the earth followed the wild beast with admiration. And they worshiped the dragon because it gave the authority to the wild beast, and they worshiped the wild beast with the words: “Who is like the wild beast, and who can do battle with it?
We need to be careful that we do not admire the Wild Beast and that we do not accept its mark. Worshiping the wild beast is paramount to worshiping the Dragon.
Revelation 13:15-17… And there was granted it to give breath to the image of the wild beast, so that the image of the wild beast should both speak and cause to be killed all those who would not in any way worship the image of the wild beast. And it puts under compulsion all persons, the small and the great, and the rich and the poor, and the free and the slaves, that they should give these a mark in their right hand or upon their forehead, and that nobody might be able to buy or sell except a person having the mark, the name of the wild beast or the number of its name.
The ability to buy or sell will affect commerce. But did you notice that you do not have to receive the mark but that you could have the name or even the number and this would affect your relationship with God. How long would your relationship with God be affected for?
Revelation 14:9-11… And another angel, a third, followed them, saying in a loud voice: “If anyone worships the wild beast and its image, and receives a mark on his forehead or upon his hand, he will also drink of the wine of the anger of God that is poured out undiluted into the cup of his wrath, and he shall be tormented with fire and Sulphur in the sight of the holy angels and in the sight of the Lamb. And the smoke of their torment ascends forever and ever, and day and night they have no rest, those who worship the wild beast and its image, and whoever receives the mark of its name.
This is a pivotal moment in the history of mankind. The issue of sovereignty will start to be solved by the choice we make. Who will rule this world and who will we allow to rule our lives is at stake? How does the cup of God’s wrath affect the kingdom of mankind?
Revelation 16:1-2… And I heard a loud voice out of the sanctuary say to the seven angels: “Go and pour out the seven bowls of the anger of God into the earth.” And the first one went off and poured out his bowl into the earth. And a hurtful and malignant ulcer came to be upon the men that had the mark of the wild beast and that were worshiping its image.
Those who received the mark will have a plague come upon their very bodies, this I’m sure will be painful. I cannot help but thinking about the story of Job and how he was put under such a test by Satan the devil. He didn’t understand why he had so meany hurtful malignant ulcer upon his body, but he stayed true and loyal to God. Will these who receive the plague stay loyal and true to the wild beast?
Revelation 16:8-11… And the fourth one poured out his bowl upon the sun; and to [the sun] it was granted to scorch the men with fire. And the men were scorched with great heat, but they blasphemed the name of God, who has the authority over these plagues, and they did not repent so as to give glory to him. And the fifth one poured out his bowl upon the throne of the wild beast. And its kingdom became darkened, and they began to gnaw their tongues for [their] pain, but they blasphemed the God of heaven for their pains and for their ulcers, and they did not repent of their works.
Where is the respect to be given to God? Why is it so hard for people to repent? The Scriptures reveal that these people are hardhearted, hardheaded, and prideful. They prove that they are not worthy of life in God’s kingdom because they fail to comply. What will happen next?
Revelation 16:13-14… And I saw three unclean inspired expressions [that looked] like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon and out of the mouth of the wild beast and out of the mouth of the false prophet. They are, in fact, expressions inspired by demons and perform signs, and they go forth to the kings of the entire inhabited earth, to gather them together to the war of the great day of God the Almighty.
Who would go fight against God? A Prideful, hardheaded, hardhearted people would do such a thing. By such actions they are simply saying that they believe that they are equal to God. That their freedom to do whatever they want is more important to them than for them to be directed by God.
So, who will be your God? Who will you obey today?
