I met Curtis when he was around the age of 17 and his older sister Miriam, they were from Jasper Texas and were Jehovah’s Witnesses at the time. They would come visit our home and listen to me talk about the Bible. They were a specially interested in the subject about the anointed, and I would tell my Bible stories to them. My two sons Thomas and Travis were about the same age and were friends with them.
Eventually Curtis reached out to me, and it must have been around January 2016. The Holy Spirit was pressing him and having him to read certain passages of scriptures from the bible. He would keep saying to me there is no way that he was anointed even though the spirit and the Bible scriptures bore out differently. I had actually told him to do a very specific prayer and ask either yes or no to whether he was being called or not.
He got his answer as a No, and this crushed him pretty badly. There is a lot more to tell here, and he will have to do it in his own words. let us just say that the spirit there at that time had lied to him. Because he got his Abba father moment later on and after that he moved to Huntsville.
Anyway he called me at that time, and I was so busy that there is no way I was going be able to get to go see him and he needed help. So, I called up Danny and Renée who lived in Crockett and asked them to go see Curtis who was in Jasper.
Truth Revealed
Once the spirit showed Curtis what was going on in Scripture and how the organization is not teaching the truth fully he immediately pulled out. He immediately acted in faith and got out of Jasper and moved to Huntsville. This eventually cost him his family as the brothers chased him down to disfellowship him because he was associating with me.
He got a job immediately making the money that he needed at a local plumbing shop there in Huntsville Texas. Curtis was also instrumental in reaching out to Thomas my son and sharing with him what he was learning.
Curtis, Thomas, and Quinn were also used to reach out to Matthew from Jasper Texas.
New York City
In time Curtis and Matthew and I made a road trip to New York City and Thomas and his wife Elizabeth flew in and toured Bethel, we were there all at the same time, that year was January 24, 2017.
Grave Site Visit
On the way back to Houston we stopped in Pennsylvania to see the gravesite of brother Russell. We were shocked to find out that he is buried close to a large Masonic Lodge about a football field away, and his gravestone was that of a pyramid. This helps solidify in my mind many things about the organization and how it came to existence.
New York Break Up.
Quinn and Samantha who are now married and living in Houston got to spend time with Curtis and his wife. Soon it became apparent to Curtis that the New York group were being led by an antichrist spirit, and it was affecting the way they the NY group acted. The major turning point happened to be over the celebration of the Lord’s evening meal and basically the New York group were told that they longer needed to partake of the emblems, because they were already with Christ in his kingdom. 1 Corinthians 4:6- 8
Associations Under Attack
Curtis was used to help me break my association with the New York group. He began to spend more time with Renée & Danny, he would call Renee his spiritual mother. That peace did not last long, the wicked ones found a way to cause problems so eventually that relationship was broken up until it could be mended. The argument basically was that the children of Curtis were being neglected by the parents, and Curtis and his wife was an unfit mother and that he was not a spiritual man because he was not taking care of his household. Yes, this is very painful to watch much less to be a part of. I kept praying that the relationship be mended and in time it was.
The wicked one was not content with this, and he found another way to cause a problem, this time it had to do with Matthew. Curtis said he was no longer going to be a part of the group or congregation that Matthew was a part of. I will not address that problem; this story will need to be addressed by others. I will say it cause the division in the group and people began choosing sides, but the Scripture is very clear about the divisions in the body of Christ that it should not exist.1 Corinthians 1:10-13
Later on, in writing about these experiences this also caused the problem, and a division has now occurred at this time with Curtis and me, this happened in November 2020.
Apparently I have offended Curtis and his wife to the point of them not accepting an apology for me. Not accepting just any old apology from me but that the apology that I was going to have to give was that to be very specific called out by them. Curtis was demanding an apology that it should be given the way he wanted it. I tried to explain that an apology is done from the heart that what he was demanding things from me, and that would not be any real apology on my part.
Curtis found it necessary to call my son Thomas and tell him that my action was so much of a betrayal of him that it was unforgivable, no matter what I did I was not going to be forgiven by him. After much praying and meditating on my part, I was told to leave Curtis alone that Christ would have to fix the problem and in time it was.
Soon after this Curtis experience another betrayal from his own father. Curtis had quit working with me at the plumbing company we were at, and he formed a new plumbing company with his dad.
Curtis belief was that in some way he would be able to help support his family by honoring his father and his mother. You see by separating himself from the JW organization, from their brotherhood and yet he himself become disfellowshipped by it, and any association with anybody else from that organization association with Curtis would lead to their disfellowship also.
Now Curtis had become the black sheep of the family. This business arrangement allowed for Curtis to associate with his family. It also allowed Curtis to financially support his family, his brother, his sister and brother-in-law, mother, and father. His dad had recently suffered a heart attack and was no longer able to physically work. The family was in financial need and was desperate. Curtis was able to step in and financially supplement the family’s income. But the brother-in-law became jealous and reported it to the brotherhood, reviling how and what Curtis was doing and soon they stepped in to put a stop to it.
Curtis’s dad came to him and informed him that he needs to cease and desist from using his father’s masters plumbing license number, and the dads company name on Curtis’s business. This to say was devastating emotionally and economically, it was a big blow to Curtis.
I am sorry I was not there to help him through it, but I was not supposed to be. This lesson that Curtis had to learn was all about trusting in our Lord Jesus Christ for our own direction in life. I did the best I could with my prayers in the support and someday Curtis may come to realize this.
I have nothing but love in my heart for him and his family, there was no malice intent on my part against him in anything I had wrote on my blog.
I have had my relationship with Curtis restored thank God I need his help in these last days. Feb 2024
