What are the conditions for deliverance, and what does deliverance mean to you?
The word deliverance by definition could mean either a message or statement, but deliverance is also an action of being rescued.
We do have a message for deliverance and this message can result in the action of being rescued.
Do we need to be rescued or saved? Absolutely, come Lord Jesus!
Luke 21:25-28… “Also, there will be signs in sun and moon and stars, and on the earth anguish of nations, not knowing the way out because of the roaring of the sea and [its] agitation, while men become faint out of fear and expectation of the things coming upon the inhabited earth; for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. And then they will see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. But as these things start to occur, raise yourselves erect and lift YOUR heads up, because YOUR deliverance is getting near”.
There is going to be a point in time when things get so bad that our Lord will have to rescue us. What can we do now to prepare ourselves for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ?
Humble, Honest, and Truthful
There are somethings that you and I can do right now to prepare ourselves, and it has to do with our minds and our hearts. We need to be Humble, Honest and Truthful, not just with one another but with God who can see all things. First, we have to be Humble.
Deuteronomy 8:2-3… And you must remember all the way that Jehovah your God made you walk these forty years in the wilderness, in order to humble you, to put you to the test so as to know what was in your heart, as to whether you would keep his commandments or not. So, he humbled you and let you go hungry and fed you with the manna, which neither you had known, nor your fathers had known; in order to make you know that not by bread alone does man live but by every expression of Jehovah’s mouth does man live.
Why did God have his people wandering in the wilderness? It was to humble his people, putting them to the test. So, you might ask why did he do these things?
God was seeing what was in their heart, he wanted to see how they would act. He wanted to know that what he was saying wasn’t just going into their head, their minds but was it going into their hearts. This became an object lesson not for them but for us and for every other creation of God to see. Because from the heart is the seed of all motivation. This is an important point for us, we need to read God’s word and understand it, and then live it from our heart.
Amplified Bible Classic James 4:10… Humbleyourself (feeling very insignificant) in the presence of the Lord, and he will exalt you. (He will lift you up and make your lives significant)
Being a Christian, a Humble servant of our Lord Jesus Christ gives you a purpose in life with a reason for living, breathing, and acting in a godly manner, then God will lift us up.
Second, we have to be Honest and Truthful with one another. Does being honest and truthful have the same meaning? No, because being honest has more to do with being trustworthy, responsible, a person of integrity. Being honest has to do with who you are as a person, whereas being truthful has to do with our speech.
Zechariah 8:16-17… “These are the things that YOU people should do: Speak truthfully with one another. With truth and the judgment of peace do YOUR judging in YOUR gates. And calamity to one another do not YOU scheme up in YOUR hearts, and do not love any false oath; for these are all things that I have hated,’ is the utterance of Jehovah.”
We must be truthful with one another because God hates lies. So, what is a lie?
A lie can be half of the truth, a lie can be a twisted truth, something that has a spin to it, like our perspective, the way we see it. So, when we speak, we tell it like we see it and that can be a lie, whether we meant to are not. What we said may not be true, because we just spoke from our perspective, our viewpoint.
Next for a lie to work it’s got to be believable; it may have an element of truth to it. But what about a white lie, is there such a thing?
No, a lie is always corrupt, it is meant to mislead, it hides what is true. So, friends we have to speak truthfully with one another. If you love someone you will not hide the truth from them, you will not lie to them. Omission of truth is just another means to avoid telling the truth.
1 John 3:18-20… Little children, let us love, neither in word nor with the tongue, but indeed and truth. By this we shall know that we originate with the truth, and we shall assure our hearts before him as regards whatever our hearts may condemn us in, because God is greater than our hearts and knows all things.
God is love, and we must live truthfully, honest, and a humble life. Because these are the kind of people that our Lord Jesus will deliver from the hands of the wicked ones. So, how do we know these things are true?
The Word of God
We have to accept the word of God and what it says is true and we have to take a stand and act on what it is telling us, we have to apply it in our lives and be a doer of God’s word and not just a hearer only, not someone who just listens but a person of action.
Hebrews 4:12-16… For the word of God is alive and exerts power and is sharper than any two-edged sword and pierces even to the dividing of soul and spirit, and of joints and [their] marrow, and [is] able to discern thoughts and intentions of [the] heart. And there is not a creation that is not manifest to his sight, but all things are naked and openly exposed to the eyes of him with whom we have an accounting. Seeing, therefore, that we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold onto [our] confessing of [him]. For we have as high priest, not one who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who has been tested in all respects like ourselves, but without sin. Let us, therefore, approach with freeness of speech to the throne of undeserved kindness, that we may obtain mercy and find undeserved kindness for help at the right time.
Is this not a powerful message that we just read? Notice that at the reading of God’s word either in our head or out loud, God knows how it’s going to affect us. He knows our thoughts, our intentions, he knows what we will and what we will not do based on what we just read, because he is the reader of our hearts.
Next, notice that God has made Jesus Christ the High Priest before us. We must bear our words before him, pray, testify, and confess so that we can get help and receive forgiveness.
James 1:19-25… Know this, my beloved brothers. Every man must be swift about hearing, slow about speaking, slow about wrath; for man’s wrath does not work out God’s righteousness. Hence put away all filthiness and that superfluous thing, badness, and accept with mildness the implanting of the word which is able to save YOUR souls. However, become doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves with false reasoning. For if anyone is a hearer of the word, and not a doer, this one is like a man looking at his natural face in a mirror. For he looks at himself, and off he goes and immediately forgets what sort of man he is. But he who peers into the perfect law that belongs to freedom and who persists in [it], this [man], because he has become, not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, will be happy in his doing [it].
Who is the True God?
We need to know who the true God is and then act upon what he is saying, trusting in him fully, then calling on the name of God because he does have a name.
Isaiah 52:5-6… And now, what interest do I have here?” is the utterance of Jehovah. “For my people were taken for nothing. The very ones ruling over them kept howling,” is the utterance of Jehovah, “and constantly, all day long, my name was being treated with disrespect. For that reason, my people will know my name, even for that reason in that day, because I am the One that is speaking. Look! It is I.”
Should we know God’s name? My friends let me ask you a question, are we disciples of Jesus Christ? Yes, or No? Then let’s read this prayer that Jesus Christ made on behalf of you and me.
John 17:1-20… Jesus spoke these things, and, raising his eyes to heaven, he said: “Father, the hour has come; glorify your son, that your son may glorify you, according as you have given him authority over all flesh, that, as regards the whole [number] whom you have given him, he may give them everlasting life. This means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of you, the only true God, and of the one whom you sent forth, Jesus Christ. I have glorified you on the earth, having finished the work you have given me to do. So now you, Father, glorify me alongside yourself with the glory that I had alongside you before the world was. “I have made your name manifest to the men you gave me out of the world. They were yours, and you gave them to me, and they have observed your word. They have now come to know that all the things you gave me are from you; because the sayings that you gave me, I have given to them, and they have received them and have certainly come to know that I came out as your representative, and they have believed that you sent me forth. I make request concerning them; I make request, not concerning the world, but concerning those you have given me; because they are yours, and all my things are yours and yours are mine, and I have been glorified among them. “Also, I am no longer in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father watch over them on account of your own name which you have given me, in order that they may be one just as we are. When I was with them, I used to watch over them on account of your own name which you have given me; and I have kept them, and not one of them is destroyed except the son of destruction, in order that the scripture might be fulfilled. But now I am coming to you, and I am speaking these things in the world in order that they may have my joy in themselves to the full. I have given your word to them, but the world has hated them, because they are no part of the world, just as I am no part of the world. “I request you, not to take them out of the world, but to watch over them because of the wicked one. They are no part of the world, just as I am no part of the world. Sanctify them by means of the truth; your word is truth. Just as you sent me forth into the world, I also sent them forth into the world. And I am sanctifying myself in their behalf, that they also may be sanctified by means of truth. “I make request, not concerning these only, but also concerning those putting faith in me through their word.
As you can see in John 17:6 and in verse 11 Jesus made known that God has a name, he even told his disciples God’s name. Knowing God’s name is also vital to being saved.
Joel 2:30-32… And I will give portents in the heavens and on the earth, blood and fire and columns of smoke. The sun itself will be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the coming of the great and fear-inspiring day of Jehovah. And it must occur that everyone who calls on the name of Jehovah will get away safe; for in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there will prove to be the escaped ones, just as Jehovah has said, and in among the survivors, whom Jehovah is calling.
Acts 4:10-12… let it be known to all of YOU and to all the people of Israel, that in the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, whom YOU impaled but whom God raised up from the dead, by this one does this man stand here sound in front of YOU. This is ‘the stone that was treated by YOU builders as of no account that has become the head of the corner.’ Furthermore, there is no salvation in anyone else, for there is not another name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must get saved.
1 Corinthians 1:2… all who everywhere are calling upon the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ, their Lord, and ours.
If we trust in God, we will call upon his name and we will become blessed, and he will give us life.
Jeremiah 17:7-8… Blessed is the able-bodied man who puts his trust in Jehovah, and whose confidence Jehovah has become. And he will certainly become like a tree planted by the waters, that sends out its roots right by the watercourse; and he will not see when heat comes, but his foliage will actually prove to be luxuriant. And in the year of drought he will not become anxious, nor will he leave off from producing fruit.
Deuteronomy 30:15-16… See, I do put before you today life and good, and death and bad. [If you will listen to the commandments of Jehovah your God,] which I am commanding you today, so as to love Jehovah your God, to walk in his ways and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his judicial decisions, then you will be bound to keep alive and to multiply, and Jehovah your God must bless you in the land to which you are going to take possession of it.
Forgive All
We need to be willing to forgive all who sin against us just as the Lord Jesus taught us in the Our Father Prayer.
Matthew 6:11-15… Give us today our bread for this day; and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And do not bring us into temptation but deliver us from the wicked one. For if YOU forgive men their trespasses, YOUR heavenly Father will also forgive YOU; whereas if YOU do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will YOUR Father forgive YOUR trespasses.
Our being forgiving, is the practicing of righteousness but if we have a cause for complaint and we are wrathful and angry with our brothers we will answer for this to the Court of Justice and then before our God at his Supreme Court.
Matthew 5:20-24… For I say to YOU that if YOUR righteousness does not abound more than that of the scribes and Pharisees, YOU will by no means enter into the kingdom of the heavens. “YOU heard that it was said to those of ancient times, ‘You must not murder; but whoever commits a murder will be accountable to the court of justice.’ However, I say to YOU that everyone who continues wrathful with his brother will be accountable to the court of justice; but whoever addresses his brother with an unspeakable word of contempt will be accountable to the Supreme Court; whereas whoever says, ‘You despicable fool!’ will be liable to the fiery Gehenna. “If then, you are bringing your gift to the altar and you there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar, and go away; first make your peace with your brother, and then, when you have come back, offer up your gift.
Brothers and sisters, we have to make peace with one another we cannot continue to hold each other up in hatred, that is unloving. Do we claim to have been taught by Jesus or even the Holy Spirit? We are proving to be liars if were unforgiving and we are allowing the devil to reside with us if we refuse to make peace.
Ephesians 4:20-32… But YOU did not learn the Christ to be so, provided, indeed, that YOU heard him and were taught by means of him, just as truth is in Jesus, that YOU should put away the old personality which conforms to YOUR former course of conduct and which is being corrupted according to his deceptive desires; but that YOU should be made new in the force actuating YOUR mind, and should put on the new personality which was created according to God’s will in true righteousness and loyalty. Wherefore, now that YOU have put away falsehood, speak truth each one of YOU with his neighbor, because we are members belonging to one another. Be wrathful, and yet do not sin; let the sun not set with YOU in a provoked state, neither allow place for the Devil. Let the stealer steal no more, but rather let him do hard work, doing with his hands what is good work, that he may have something to distribute to someone in need. Let a rotten saying not proceed out of YOUR mouth, but whatever saying is good for building up as the need may be, that it may impart what is favorable to the hearers. Also, do not be grieving God’s holy spirit, with which YOU have been sealed for a day of releasing by ransom. Let all malicious bitterness and anger and wrath and screaming and abusive speech be taken away from YOU along with all badness. But become kind to one another, tenderly compassionate, freely forgiving one another just as God also by Christ freely forgave YOU.
If you cannot freely forgive one another then you have not been delivered by Jesus Christ. Love conquers all things even selfishness but to be unforgiving this is selfish. We need to take care of the needs of one another.
1 John 3:15-18… Everyone who hates his brother is a manslayer, and YOU know that no manslayer has everlasting life remaining in him. By this we have come to know love, because that one surrendered his soul for us; and we are under obligation to surrender [our] souls for [our] brothers. But whoever has this world’s means for supporting life and beholds his brother having need and yet shuts the door of his tender compassions upon him, in what way does the love of God remain in him? Little children let us love, neither in word nor with the tongue, but indeed and truth.
We are obligated to Jesus Christ and our Father in Heaven to be merciful, peaceable, and loving to one another not just in words but in our actions.
Breaking with Wickedness
We are obligated to break all contact with wickedness and all that which ties us to unclean spirits either by a person, activity, or object. Wickedness always tries to seduce you to do bad.
Proverbs 1:10-19… My son, if sinners try to seduce you, do not consent. If they keep saying: “Do go with us. Do let us lie in ambush for blood. Do let us lie in concealment for the innocent men without any cause. Let us swallow them down alive just like Sheol, even whole, like those going down into a pit. Let us find all sorts of precious valuables. Let us fill our houses with spoil. Your lot you ought to cast in among us. Let there come to be just one bag belonging to all of us” my son, do not go in the way with them. Hold back your foot from their roadway. For their feet are those that run to sheer badness, and they keep hastening to shed blood. For it is for nothing that the net is spread before the eyes of anything owning wings. Consequently, they themselves lie in ambush for the very blood of these; they lie in concealment for their souls. Thus, are the paths of everyone making unjust profit. It takes away the very soul of its owners.
Wickedness always goes for your heart, to pollute it, that is why the Scripture said that we should guard our hearts.
Mark 7:20-23… Further, he said: “That which issues forth out of a man is what defiles a man; for from inside, out of the heart of men, injurious reasonings issue forth: fornications, thieveries, murders, adulteries, coveting’s, acts of wickedness, deceit, loose conduct, an envious eye, blasphemy, haughtiness, unreasonableness. All these wicked things issue forth from within and defile a man.”
We need to identify the things that God hates, and what he calls wicked and then do not practice those things. Because we do not want to make ourselves an enemy to God.
Exodus 20:3-7… You must not have any other gods against my face. “You must not make for yourself a carved image or a form like anything that is in the heavens above or that is on the earth underneath or that is in the waters under the earth. You must not bow down to them nor be induced to serve them, because I Jehovah your God am a God exacting exclusive devotion, bringing punishment for the error of fathers upon sons, upon the third generation and upon the fourth generation, in the case of those who hate me; but exercising loving-kindness toward the thousandth generation in the case of those who love me and keep my commandments. “You must not take up the name of Jehovah your God in a worthless way, for Jehovah will not leave the one unpunished who takes up his name in a worthless way.
God punishes the wicked ones, so do not become friends with the wicked. What else would we need to do to show God we do not want anything to do with wickedness?
Acts 19:18-20… And many of those who had become believers would come and confess and report their practices openly. Indeed, quite a number of those who practiced magical arts brought their books together and burned them up before everybody. And they calculated together the prices of them and found them worth fifty thousand pieces of silver. Thus, in a mighty way the word of Jehovah kept growing and prevailing.
If we want to continue to grow in our love and devotion for God, we must cease practicing wickedness we need to confess our sins openly that we might gain forgiveness from the true God.
Confessing Are Sins
We are obligated to confess any known sins both of our own and of our household and of our ancestors.
Leviticus 5:5… And it must occur that in case he becomes guilty as respects one of these things, then he must confess in what way he has sinned.
Leviticus 26:40… And they will certainly confess their own error and the error of their fathers in their unfaithfulness when they behaved unfaithfully toward me, yes, even when they walked in opposition to me.
As you see we will be accountable for past sins.
Zechariah 5:2-4… Then he said to me: “This is the curse that is going forth over the surface of all the earth, because everyone that is stealing, according to it on this side, has gone free of punishment; and everyone making a sworn oath, according to it on that side, has gone free of punishment. ‘I have caused it to go forth,’ is the utterance of Jehovah of armies, ‘and it must enter into the house of the thief and into the house of the one making a sworn oath in my name falsely; and it must lodge in the midst of his house and exterminate it and its timbers and its stones.’
God’s word goes forth and accomplishes what it intends to do. Do not be on the receiving end of these curses, confess your sins and be free of them. All people have sin in one way or another, confess and be free of it.
1 John 1:8-10… However, if we are walking in the light as he himself is in the light, we do have a sharing with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. If we make the statement: “We have no sin,” we are misleading ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous so as to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we make the statement: “We have not sinned,” we are making him a liar, and his word is not in us.
Either we are walking in truth, or we are not going to walk in it. Ether we are going to be his friend, or you are going to be his enemy. It is up to each one of us to make up our minds, we are for God, or we are against him. Maybe we need help, there is nothing wrong with asking for help, go ahead, start praying.
James 5:14-16… Is there anyone sick among YOU? Let him call the older men of the congregation to [him], and let them pray over him, greasing [him] with oil in the name of Jehovah. And the prayer of faith will make the indisposed one well, and Jehovah will raise him up. Also, if he has committed sins, it will be forgiven him. Therefore, openly confess YOUR sins to one another and pray for one another, that YOU may get healed. A righteous man’s supplication, when it is at work, has much force.
Repent and Renounce
We need to repent by expressing sincere regret over our past wrongdoing of sins. We need to formally renounce the right of claim or possession to anything or anyone exercising authority over you. Also refuse involvement or participation in any further wrongdoing, declaring that you will no longer engage or support any sinning against God.
Acts 3:19-24… Repent, therefore, and turn around so as to get YOUR sins blotted out, that seasons of refreshing may come from the person of Jehovah and that he may send forth the Christ appointed for YOU, Jesus, whom heaven, indeed, must hold within itself until the times of restoration of all things of which God spoke through the mouth of his holy prophets of old time. In fact, Moses said, ‘Jehovah God will raise up for YOU from among YOUR brothers a prophet like me. YOU must listen to him according to all the things he speaks to YOU. Indeed, any soul that does not listen to that Prophet will be completely destroyed from among the people.’ And all the prophets, in fact, from Samuel on and those in succession, just as many as have spoken, have also plainly declared these days.
Repent and receive the Christ that has been appointed for you, that is a beautiful thought. How do we know that God will not remember our sin?
Ezekiel 18:20-23… The soul that is sinning—it itself will die. A son himself will bear nothing because of the error of the father, and a father himself will bear nothing because of the error of the son. Upon his own self the very righteousness of the righteous one will come to be, and upon his own self the very wickedness of a wicked one will come to be. “Now as regards someone wicked, in case he should turn back from all his sins that he has committed and he should actually keep all my statutes and execute justice and righteousness, he will positively keep living. He will not die. All his transgressions that he has committed—they will not be remembered against him. For his righteousness that he has done he will keep living.
Once we stopped sinning, we still must practice righteousness. What better way to show that we appreciate being released from sin then to declare this to others.
1 Peter 2:9-11… But YOU are “a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for special possession, that YOU should declare abroad the excellencies” of the one that called YOU out of darkness into his wonderful light. For YOU were once not a people but are now God’s people; YOU were those who had not been shown mercy but are now those who have been shown mercy. Beloved, I exhort YOU as aliens and temporary residents to keep abstaining from fleshly desires, which are the very ones that carry on a conflict against the soul.
Express Faith in Christ
We need to openly express and confess faith in the blood sacrifice that Jesus Christ gave in his death and resurrection. That he was the righteous son of God, that he forgives our sins and transfers us from the authority of darkness to the authority of the kingdom of light.
John 3:16… For God loved the world so much that he gave his only begotten Son, in order that everyone exercising faith in him might not be destroyed but have everlasting life.
We are obligated to exercise faith, that means we need to be doing something with our faith, like taking action. We have to use our faith daily; it is a type of spiritual muscle and has to be exercised.
Acts 26:15-18… But I said, ‘Who are you, Lord?’ And the Lord said, ‘I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. Nevertheless, rise and stand on your feet. For to this end I have made myself visible to you, in order to choose you as an attendant and a witness both of things you have seen and things I shall make you see respecting me; while I deliver you from [this] people and from the nations, to whom I am sending you, to open their eyes, to turn them from darkness to light and from the authority of Satan to God, in order for them to receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those sanctified by [their] faith in me.’
Once we have been transferred from the authority of Satan to the authority of Christ Jesus, then we must go on increasing in our accurate knowledge of God, we are obligated to publicly declare these things.
Colossians 1:10-15… in order to walk worthily of Jehovah to the end of fully pleasing [him] as YOU go on bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the accurate knowledge of God, being made powerful with all power to the extent of his glorious might so as to endure fully and be long-suffering with joy, thanking the Father who rendered YOU suitable for YOUR participation in the inheritance of the holy ones in the light. He delivered us from the authority of the darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of the Son of his love, by means of whom we have our release by ransom, the forgiveness of our sins. He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation.
Keep the love of Christ in your heart by always speaking of these things that sets others free, by declaring our salvation publicly.
Romans 10:9-11… For if you publicly declare that ‘word in your own mouth,’ that Jesus is Lord, and exercise faith in your heart that God raised him up from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one exercises faith for righteousness, but with the mouth one makes public declaration for salvation. For the Scripture says: “None that rests his faith on him will be disappointed.”
Get Baptized
Why do we need to get baptized?
Matthew 28:17-20… and when they saw him, they did obeisance, but some doubted. And Jesus approached and spoke to them, saying: “All authority has been given me in heaven and on the earth. Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded YOU. And look! I am with YOU all the days until the conclusion of the system of things.”
Jesus told us to go baptizing and teaching others about the kingdom and the good news that he spoke about.
Acts 2:38-39… Peter [said] to them: Repent and let each one of YOU be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for forgiveness of YOUR sins, and YOU will receive the free gift of the holy spirit.
When we get baptized, we receive the Holy Spirit as a gift from God.
Acts 19:4-6… Paul said: “John baptized with the baptism [in symbol] of repentance, telling the people to believe in the one coming after him, that is, in Jesus.” On hearing this, they got baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. And when Paul laid his hands upon them, the holy spirit came upon them, and they began speaking with tongues and prophesying.
Do we need to study for a long time to qualify for this baptism?
Acts 8:35-38… Philip opened his mouth and, starting with this Scripture, he declared to him the good news about Jesus. Now as they were going over the road, they came to a certain body of water, and the eunuch said: “Look! A body of water; what prevents me from getting baptized?” Philip said to him if you believe with all your heart, it is permissible, in reply he said to him “I believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God”. With that he commanded the chariot to halt, and they both went down into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.
Our baptism is based on the belief that Jesus Christ is the son of God. That he is the appointed Christ, and that knowledge touches our heart and compels us to get baptized in his name.
Now that we understand the conditions for deliverance, are we willing to accept Christ Jesus as your Lord? If so than may you say come Lord Jesus, blessed is he that comes in our Heavenly Father’s name. Philippians 2:9-11
