What happens when you bear witness about Jesus Christ? Who, has this work of witnessing about Jesus?
All those who call upon Christ Jesus are obligated to give evidence that they follow the way of the Lord that was taught to them. They witness about the good news of Jesus Christ and their life is a living testimony to their love for him and of our Father in heaven.
Even angels from God have the work of bearing to the testimony about Jesus.
Revelation 19:10 At that I fell down before his feet to worship him. But he tells me: “Be careful! Do not do that! All I am, is a fellow slave of you and of your brothers who have the work of witnessing to Jesus. Worship God, for the bearing witness to Jesus (for the testimony about Jesus) is what inspires prophesying (for I am the spirit for prophecy).”
Did you notice that the angel of God referred to himself as a fellow worker, slave, and a spirit for testimony for prophesy? 1 John 4:1-3
Also, when we speak about Jesus Christ something marvelous happens, the holy spirit can move us to reveal more or deeper truths about God and his kingdom. We could even be used to prophesy as God sees fit. So, how do we bear witness to Christ?
We bear witness to Jesus Christ by giving our testimony about Christ Jesus. How he has been a part of our daily life. We are telling of the things he has done for us and will yet do. Yes, how he has set us free from the yoke of sin.
Jesus sent forth his disciples to preach, proclaim, and herald what kind of message? Are we sent forth today to prophesy?
Luke 9:1-2… Then he called the twelve together and gave them power and authority over all the demons and to cure sicknesses. And so, he sent them forth to preach (G2784) the kingdom of God and to heal.
The Greek word as found in Strong’s Concordance #G2784 is kerusso, and it means to herald or proclaim. To bring accountability to all who hear with conviction the announcement of the word of God publicly. The disciples were to proclaim the Kingdom of God had come near. All who heard were now accountable to the kingdom of God.
Matthew 10:1… So, he summoned his twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits, in order to expel these and to cure every sort of disease and every sort of infirmity.
That his disciples had received authority from Christ Jesus to do powerful works. This was even before the Holy Spirit had been poured out in 33 CE.
Mark 3:13-15… And he ascended a mountain and summoned those he wanted, and they went off to him. And he formed [a group of] twelve, whom he also named “apostles,” that they might continue with him and that he might send them out to preach and to have authority to expel the demons.
Ignoring or disregarding the authority of these apostles would be the same as ignoring the authority of Jesus Christ.
Luke 10:16 -20… He that listens to YOU listens to me. And he that disregards YOU disregards me. Moreover, he that disregards me also disregards him that sent me forth. 17 Then the seventy returned with joy, saying: Lord, even the demons are made subject to us by the use of your name. 18 At that he said to them: I began to behold Satan already fallen like lightning from heaven. 19 Look! I have given YOU the authority to trample underfoot serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing will by any means do YOU hurt. 20 Nevertheless, do not rejoice over this, that the spirits are made subject to YOU, but rejoice because YOUR names have been inscribed in the heavens.
We bear witness to the good news about Jesus Christ and marvelous things happens, soon the Holy Spirit begins to work in the heart and minds of the listeners. This is the good work, but many times people are not willing to accept or believe the things about Jesus Christ. What are the key things that helps us to endure in our work?
What are some of the things that help us endure?
There are 3 key things that help us endure in our life of following Christ Jesus.
- Love for Christ and God.
- Knowing that we are helped along by Holy Spirit. John 14:26
- That the spirit of Christ and God resides in us. Romans 8:9-10
Seven Aspects About Jesus Christ Life
What are some of the aspect about Jesus life and ministry that we should look into? How will we benefit from that?
Most people cannot tell you the accomplishments that occurred because Jesus came, preached, and died. But the apostle Paul understood the complexity of the ministry and death of the Lord Jesus Christ.
There was commonly agreed upon facts about Jesus’ life and ministry that were not contested by his followers. Paul called it a mystery of godliness or a sacred secret that held the followers of Jesus Christ together in a oneness of faith and of one accord.
1 Timothy 3:16… Indeed, the sacred secret of this godly devotion is admittedly great: ‘He was made manifest in flesh, was declared righteous in spirit, appeared to angels, was preached about among nations, was believed upon by the world, was received up in glory.’
- As God’s firstborn son he was made manifest in the flesh to bring an end to sin through the sacrifice of himself. Hebrews 9:26
- Christ Jesus was declared righteous in spirit by God and for God. Luke 3:21, 1 Peter 3:18
- This beloved son of God was attended to by angels. John 1:51
- The good news about Jesus Christ was made known to the world through the preaching work. Matthew 28:19-20
- The world accepted the good news about our Lord Jesus Christ and were made children of God through the exercising of their faith in his name. John 1:12
- Our Lord Jesus Christ was made glorified for his disciples and at the end was given authority to sit at God’s right hand. Matthew 17:2, 1 Peter 3:22
- The prophetic word was made known about the son of God and his coming so that you and I could be made obedient through our faith.
Romans 16:25-27… Now to him who can make YOU firm in accord with the good news I declare and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the sacred secret which has been kept in silence for long-lasting times but has now been made manifest and has been made known through the prophetic scriptures among all the nations in accord with the command of the everlasting God to promote obedience by faith; to God, wise alone, be the glory through Jesus Christ forever. Amen.
So, where are we in the stream of time? What are we all waiting on?
Romans 8:19-23… For the eager expectation of the creation is waiting for the revealing of the sons of God. 20 For the creation was subjected to futility, not by its own will but through him that subjected it, on the basis of hope 21 that the creation itself also will be set free from enslavement to corruption and have the glorious freedom of the children of God. 22 For we know that all creation keeps on groaning together and being in pain together until now. 23 Not only that, but we ourselves also who have the first fruits, namely, the spirit, yes, we ourselves groan within ourselves, while we are earnestly waiting for adoption as sons, the release from our bodies by ransom.
How are the sons of God going to be revealed to mankind?
Matthew 24:30-31… And then the sign of the Son of man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will beat themselves in lamentation, and they will see the Son of man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And he will send forth his angels with a great trumpet sound, and they will gather his chosen ones together from the four winds, from one extremity of the heavens to their other extremity.
Have you heard the trumpet blow? Have you seen God’s Angels go forth? Have you seen the revealing of God’s sons?
