What is Love? Why is the world losing its love?
Love is the ultimate motivator; it is a personal attachment with deep roots of affection that bind one to another. Do you have or show that kind of love in your life?
1 John 2:15… Do not be loving either the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
How would that make you feel if somebody said that you do not have the love of our heavenly father in you? If you knew somebody thought that way about you what would you do to change their mind?
The world as you and I know it has been slowly changing. It has become a me first or it is all about me society. It is what I want, and I do not care about your rights or what you want, this is what I am doing. Indeed, selfishness is not loving and this world has become full of itself. Matthew 24:12
We have a choice we can become selfish in our expressing our fleshly desires just like the world does or we can become more loving showing acts of kindness, expressions of love like God does.
How did you come to know God? How did that knowledge grow into a love for and to the true God?
The Scriptures are very clear about how you come to know the true God. No one can fully come to know him without an introduction. Yes, you may think you know the true God but without the Son of his love introducing you, it becomes hopeless.
Some of you may think that is not true or that thought is hard core but really? Do you not know that the world is lying in the power of the wicked one, the enemy of Jehovah God?
Matthew 11:27… All things have been delivered to me by my Father, and no one fully knows the Son but the Father, neither does anyone fully know the Father but the Son and anyone to whom the Son is willing to reveal him.
1 John 5:19-20… We know we originate with God, but the whole world is lying in the [power of the] wicked one. But we know that the Son of God has come, and he has given us intellectual capacity that we may gain the knowledge of the true one. And we are in union with the true one, by means of his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and life everlasting.
It is at this point we have to start explaining the relationship between coming to know God and continuing to be made perfect in the love of God, there is a lot to be said here.
The key to being made perfect in the love of God is bound up in Jesus Christ the one who has revealed the true God to us. Jesus Christ showed us God’s ways and his thinking. It is Jesus Christ who has given us the intellectual capacity. Really not one of us can approach God without having the covering of the blood of Jesus Christ upon us.
Hebrews 9:11-15… However, when Christ came as a high priest of the good things that have come to pass, through the greater and more perfect tent not made with hands, that is, not of this creation, 12 he entered, no, not with the blood of goats and of young bulls, but with his own blood, once for all time into the holy place and obtained an everlasting deliverance [for us]. 13 For if the blood of goats and of bulls and the ashes of a heifer sprinkled on those who have been defiled sanctifies to the extent of cleanness of the flesh, 14 how much more will the blood of the Christ, who through an everlasting spirit offered himself without blemish to God, cleanse our consciences from dead works that we may render sacred service to [the] living God? 15 So that is why he is a mediator of a new covenant, in order that, because a death has occurred for [their] release by ransom from the transgressions under the former covenant, the ones who have been called might receive the promise of the everlasting inheritance.
Do you imagine that your prayers go immediately to God? Do you not know that Jesus Christ has been made the mediator and the high priest so that you and I may have an approach to the Father in heaven?
Take a minute and picture this as we try to illustrate this point so you can better visualize it in your mind.
When the true God of heaven looks down upon us, there Jesus Christ is standing between God and us, God sees us in the shadow or in the covering of Christ as it falls upon us, in that way God may deal with us in a good acceptable way.
John 14:6… Jesus said to him: “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Hebrews 1:1-4… God, who long ago spoke on many occasions and in many ways to our forefathers by means of the prophets, 2 has at the end of these days spoken to us by means of a Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the systems of things. 3 He is the reflection of [his] glory and the exact representation of his very being, and he sustains all things by the word of his power; and after he had made a purification for our sins he sat down on the right hand of the Majesty in lofty places.
Christ Jesus is used to speak to us, he has been appointed the heir of all things and he sits at the right hand of God. We are obligated to obey and observe the word of Jesus Christ; it means life and death to us.
1 John 2:5-6… But whoever does observe his word, truthfully in this [person] the love of God has been made perfect. By this we have the knowledge that we are in union with him. He that says he remains in union with him is under obligation himself also to go on walking just as that one walked.
We are obligated to observe the word of Jesus Christ and follow him so that we may be made perfect in the love of God. God has made a provision for us to follow Christ Jesus closely, he prophesied that he would have his laws written upon our hearts. There was no better way to fulfill this promise except to give us the spirit of Christ Jesus and to let it fill our hearts with love, this is the grand hope.
Romans 5:1-5…Therefore, now that we have been declared righteous as a result of faith, let us enjoy peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom also we have gained our approach by faith into this undeserved kindness in which we now stand; and let us exult, based on hope of the glory of God. 3 And not only that, but let us exult while in tribulations, since we know that tribulation produces endurance; 4 endurance, in turn, an approved condition; the approved condition, in turn, hope, 5 and the hope does not lead to disappointment; because the love of God has been poured out into our hearts through the holy spirit, which was given us.
For a lot of you this may be a new thought, that holy spirit could be poured into your heart. Well, let us test that thought out with God’s word ok. Who is called the morning star or daystar?
Revelation 22:16… I, Jesus, sent my angel to bear witness to YOU people of these things for the congregations. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright morning star.
A sunrise is both beautiful and bright, and it is because of a star that the light is shining forth in the morning that we can see and feel it. The kingdom of God comes in such a way as it begins to illuminate our darkened heart. For indeed we we’re alienated from God and without the light from him. Now we have become enlightened by means of Christ Jesus who fills our heart with such understanding. It is he who is the daystar that rises in our heart.
1 Peter 1:19… Consequently, we have the prophetic word [made] more sure; and YOU are doing well in paying attention to it as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until day dawns and a daystar rises, in YOUR hearts.
Will you accept this implanting from Jehovah God, the giver of the perfect present?
Do you have a love for Jehovah God? Do you have a love for the son of his love Jesus Christ? I would love for you to stop and pray about these things before reading this last Scripture.
1 John 4:9-21… By this the love of God was made manifest in our case because God sent forth his only begotten Son into the world that we might gain life through him. 10 The love is in this respect, not that we have loved God, but that he loved us and sent forth his Son as a propitiatory sacrifice for our sins. 11 Beloved ones, if this is how God loved us, then we are ourselves under obligation to love one another. 12 At no time has anyone beheld God. If we continue loving one another, God remains in us and his love is made perfect in us. 13 By this we gain the knowledge that we are remaining in union with him and he in union with us, because he has imparted his spirit to us. 14 In addition, we ourselves have beheld and are bearing witness that the Father has sent forth his Son as Savior of the world. 15 Whoever makes the confession that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, God remains in union with such one and he in union with God. 16 And we ourselves have come to know and have believed the love that God has in our case. God is love, and he that remains in love remains in union with God and God remains in union with him. 17 This is how love has been made perfect with us, that we may have freeness of speech in the day of judgment, because, just as that one is, so are we ourselves in this world. 18 There is no fear in love, but perfect love throws fear outside, because fear exercises a restraint. Indeed, he that is under fear has not been made perfect in love.
Stop being put under the fear from this world and of men around you! Show yourselves lovers of Jehovah God and of Jesus Christ and become his free people. Let your kingdom come Lord Jesus Amen.
