Why is it that God has to wait in expectation for showing us favor?
Isaiah 30:18… And therefore, Jehovah will keep in expectation of showing YOU favor, and therefore he will rise up to show YOU mercy. For Jehovah is a God of judgment. Happy are all those keeping in expectation of him.
What is God waiting on? Is there some type of timeframe or event that needs to happen for God to act in showing us mercy?
Yes, there is yet a time when God will pass judgment. He will then give us instruction so that healing may take place.
Isaiah 30:20-21, 26… And Jehovah will certainly give YOU people bread in the form of distress and water in the form of oppression; yet your Grand Instructor will no longer hide himself, and your eyes must become [eyes] seeing your Grand Instructor. 21 And your own ears will hear a word behind you saying: “This is the way. Walk in it, YOU people,” in case YOU people should go to the right or in case YOU should go to the left… 26 And the light of the full moon must become as the light of the glowing [sun]; and the very light of the glowing [sun] will become seven times as much, like the light of seven days, in the day that Jehovah binds up the breakdown of his people and heals even the severe wound resulting from the stroke by him.
Why would God feed us with this form of oppression; and what does this have to do with the King of the North?
The best way to get anybody’s attention or correct their action is for them to become stress with some form of discipline, in that way we would be more apt to listen to the instructions given.
Who will judge how we did under this Godly test?
John 5:22-23… For the Father judges no one at all, but he has committed all the judging to the Son, in order that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He that does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him. Most truly I say to YOU, He that hears my word and believes him that sent me has everlasting life, and he does not come into judgment but has passed over from death to life.
What is this Godly test all about? After reading all of Isaiah chapter 30, it should become clear to us that this Godly test is all about who are we going to obey, who are we going to listen to. Our God is waiting to find out who is going to listen to the voice behind us or if it is going to be the voice in front of us!
Identifying the King of the North
After reading all of Isaiah chapter 30 can we answer the following questions:
Who is the King of the north? Who is the King of the south?
Isaiah 30:6-7 identifies who the King of the South is. It is Egypt / Rahab and again they are also identified here at Isaiah 51:9-10 as the same.
Now that we were able to identify the King of South, who is the King of the North? This is going to require for you to research this Hebrew word Topheth found in Strongs #H8613 and it means a place of burning.
Jeremiah 19:1-15 identifies Topheth as not just as a place but an act of destroying, like the Baal worship when people were burning their child alive in the valley of the son of Hinnom.
2 Kings 23:10 speaks of Topheth being a place in the Valley of Hinnom’s Son where people killed their children and burned them on an altar to honor the false god Molech. Josiah ruined that place so that no one could use it again.
How did God view this place and what went on there?
Jeremiah 32:31-35… “for this city has caused My wrath and fury from the day it was built until now. I will therefore remove it from My presence, 32 because of all the evil the Israelites and Judeans have done to provoke Me to anger—they, their kings, their officials, their priests, and their prophets, the men of Judah, and the residents of Jerusalem. 33 They have turned their backs to Me and not their faces. Though I taught them time and time again, they do not listen and receive discipline. 34 They have placed their detestable things in the house that is called by My name and have defiled it. 35 They have built the high places of Baal in the Valley of Hinnom to make their sons and daughters pass through the fire to Molech—something I had not commanded them. I had never entertained the thought that they do this detestable act causing Judah to sin!
Where is this Valley of Ben Hinnom located?
The spot of all this detestable activity lay South of Mount Zion were the Kidron Valley and this valley of Ben Hinnom join together. There are many prophecies that God spoke in connection to this king of the North and the eventual destruction of the evils perpetrated against the land and the true worshipers God, but I would like to draw your attention to the one here in Isaiah chapter 30.
Isaiah 30:33… In the Valley of Ben Hinnom, Topheth (a place of burning) has been prepared for a long time. It has been made ready for the king of Assyria. Its fire pit has been made deep and wide. It has plenty of wood for the fire. The breath of the Lord will be like a stream of burning sulfur, It will set the wood on fire.
So, God calls out Assyria with its God Molech who have been the promoters of Baal worship as they act as the King of the North leading God’s people astray. God will pay back to the King of the North his anger in time. Revelation 20:10
Has the identity of the King the North changed in time? No, not really when you understand that it has always been the gods of this system or spirit entity behind the prevailing governments. Even if the prevailing government changed the spirit entity remain in control of it. These spirit beings manipulate men and organizations in the effort to dominate of the world of mankind.
Let us look at another prophecy showing us what God called these spirit entities behind the prevailing authorities. As a point of interest this prophecy founded Isaiah chapter 30 has not yet been fulfilled, so when will it be fulfilled?
The Horns That Scattered God’s People
God has always used the nations to bring about a discipline to his people. So even though God allowed the nations to bring about certain destruction these nations went beyond what God wanted. So, this prophecy that we are getting ready to read identifies what God intends to do to rectify this overzealous destruction of his people.
Zachariah 1:7-15… On the twenty-fourth day of the eleventh month, which is the month of Shebat, in the second year of Darius, the word of the Lord came to the prophet Zechariah son of Berechiah, son of Iddo. 8 I looked out in the night and saw a man riding on a red horse. He was standing among the myrtle trees in the valley. Behind him were red, sorrel, and white horses. 9 I asked, “What are these, my lord?” The angel who was talking to me replied, “I will show you what they are.” 10 Then the man standing among the myrtle trees explained, “They are the ones the Lord has sent to patrol the earth.” 11 They reported to the Angel of the Lord standing among the myrtle trees, “We have patrolled the earth, and right now the whole earth is calm and quiet.” 12 Then the Angel of the Lord responded, “How long, Lord of Hosts, will You withhold mercy from Jerusalem and the cities of Judah that You have been angry with these 70 years?” 13 The Lord replied with kind and comforting words to the angel who was speaking with me. 14 So the angel who was speaking with me said, “Proclaim: The Lord of Hosts says: I am extremely jealous for Jerusalem and Zion. 15 I am fiercely angry with the nations that are at ease, for I was a little angry, but they made it worse.
The first thing we should notice that this prophecy was uttered sometime after the 70 years of Jerusalem’s first destruction by Babylon. Next God is angry with the nations for even though he authorized them to strike at his people they went beyond what he wanted. Picking back up on the reading:
Zachariah 1:16-21… Therefore, this is what the Lord says: In mercy, I have returned to Jerusalem; My house will be rebuilt within it”—this is the declaration of the Lord of Hosts— “and a measuring line will be stretched out over Jerusalem. 17 “Proclaim further: This is what the Lord of Hosts says: My cities will again overflow with prosperity; the Lord will once more comfort Zion and again choose Jerusalem.” 18 Then I looked up and saw four horns. 19 So I asked the angel who was speaking with me, “What are these?” And he said to me, “These are the horns that scattered Judah, Israel, and Jerusalem.” 20 Then the Lord showed me four craftsmen. 21 I asked, “What are they coming to do?” He replied, “These are the horns that scattered Judah so no one could raise his head. These craftsmen have come to terrify them, to cut off the horns of the nations that raised their horns against the land of Judah to scatter it.”
Who are these four horns and when did they disperse the land of Israel?
The first horn was the Assyria king Tiglath-pileser began his attack on the 10-tribe kingdom Israel in about 721 BCE and finally he attacked Judah in 701 BCE.
The next horn was the Babylonian king Nebuchadnezzar’s he first attacked in 605 BC and the last attack came in 586 BCE.
Greek / Hellenistic rule of Antiochus Epiphanes started in 168 BCE and ended in 163 BCE.
Lastly Rome came and destroyed Jerusalem and the Temple of God in 70 CE dispersing the people of Israel from the land.
God said that there are 4 craftsmen who will come to set them trembling, to cast down the horns of the nations that are lifting up a horn against the land of Judah in order to disperse her.”
Who are these craftsmen and when are they coming? When is all this supposed to happen?
Luke 21:24 calls out this time span as the appointed time of the nations to allow them to trample Jerusalem.
The prophet Danial received many prophecies as it related to the Jewish people and the timing of the coming of the Messiah, with the destruction of the temple, and the emptying of the land of its people by the King of the North.
So, who is the King of the North of Daniel chapter 11? And what clue do we have to work with?
In Daniel 11:45 there is a clue let us read this passage of Scripture and identify the clue.
Daniel 11:45… He will pitch his royal tents between the sea and the beautiful holy mountain, but he will meet his end with no one to help him.
That really doesn’t sound like much of a clue, does it? After all it was Rome who had the last action against the state of Israel. We need to remember this because this is the last known action that the King of North does before, he’s brought to an end. We need to focus our attention on the phrase “pitch his royal tent” and take note of its location. This should give us a clue.
Most Bible translators rendered this passage of Scripture differently. Some use the word palatial tents. Others say royal tents. Some call it a pavilion. Strong #H643 (appadnow) and it can be translated as royal.
There are two fixed points that are given that he’s going to set up his camp. They are between the sea and the holy mountain of God. So, the Holy Mount of God would be Mount Zion. That would be on the south side of Jerusalem overlooking the two valleys. The one to the west is called the Kidron Valley and the other to the east called the Valley of Ben Hinnom, and further to the west would be the Mediterranean Sea.
So, when you think of a royal tent, what do you imagine that could be? You would think that it is a place where a king would be, right. If not the king, then definitely someone who represents the king’s kingdom. Today most countries have set up an outpost in another country where they can legally conduct business for their people, such a place would be called an embassy. The local government would grant permission for this to happen. Nevertheless, we are looking for some type of governmental building that is sitting between the great sea and the holy mount of God.
Get a map of Jerusalem and the greater area and start looking for Mount Zion then look westward toward the sea, and can you find such a governmental building? If you’re looking at the map you should run across the Knesset which is the Israeli government. And I can hear some of you now complaining how could Israeli government be part of the King of the North? That is a fair question let’s answer it.
The Hellenization of Israel
Remember we are looking for something that looks like the King the North and the last known action of that kingdom was the destruction of God’s temple by Rome.
Is the Knesset set up like the Roman government? What Horn is behind Israeli government? Is the Israeli government established for God by God? What is Zionism and who built the Knesset?
Each one of these four kingdoms that exercised authority over the land of Israel tried to assimilate God’s people into its own culture helping to break the identifying mark of God’s people. As God worked to separate his people from the world the wicked spirits of this world have been working to assimilate God’s people under their authority.
The nation of Israel each time got themselves in trouble with God when they allowed this assimilation to begin to occur or work out in their lives, with this practice of false worship of Baal, Ishtar, and Molech. So, do the Israeli people look different, act different, or have they been caught up in this false worship of the world? Have they allowed sexual perversion to be practiced openly? Are they allowing gay pride parades? Is homosexuality the acceptable norm? Is abortion practice or allowed? Have they been caught up in the pursuit of happiness as it chases after the Almighty currency? Does Israel seek the acceptance of the world or God? Does the nation of Israel chase after the ideology of liberty, justice, and freedom for all? Or is it theocratic? Have they looked to someone of the Davidic line to sit on the throne of David? Where’s the prophet of God and why is he so quiet about what’s going on? Iasiah 6:9-10, Matthew 13:13-17
Look around the people of Israel has fallen victim to the Hellenization of the Greek culture. Israel seeks normalization with the world. It still continues to turn his back on God and his ways. Take for example who provided the money for the building of the Knesset?
The money came from the Rothschilds who have their roots as Ashkenazi Jews. They are true Zionist, and their family legacy proves it. It took generations for the family to influence the world to restore Israel as a nation to its land.
Do the research and see the similarities of the Roman influence and the way The Assembly or Knesset conducts itself under the rule of the King of the North. Yes, the King of the North with his ideology has set up his royal palace between the great sea and the holy mountain of God but he will come to his end, because God has prophesied it.
