What does it mean to bind and release?
Matthew 16:19… I will give you the keys of the kingdom of the heavens, and whatever you may bind on earth will be the thing bound in the heavens, and whatever you may loose on earth will be the thing loosed in the heavens.
The Lord Jesus Christ just gave the apostle Peter this name (Cephas), which means rock mass and then told him that he was going to build a congregation up upon him. The apostle Peter then received the keys of the kingdom. John 1:41
So, what were these keys to be used for?
Keys represent a type of authority in government, anyone who holds the keys is in a position of trust and honor. The key allows or denies access into the kingdom of God. The key allows those who have it the opportunity to open for others the privilege of special service. What other authority did the apostle Peter have?
Matthew 18:18-20… Truly I say to you men, Whatever things you may bind on earth will be things bound in heaven, and whatever things you may loose on earth will be things loosed in heaven. Again, I truly say to you, if two of you on earth agree concerning anything of importance that they should request, it will take place for them due to my Father in heaven. For where there are two or three gathered together in my name, there I am in their midst.
Peter was not the only one to be given the authority to bind or to loosen the things on earth. Jesus points out that when two or more come together in his name that the authority could be exercised, it would become binding not just upon the earth but would be held as law in heaven.
Basically, the kingdom of God would be able to affect and establish kingdom authority not only upon the earth but in heaven. It would be able to bound and release the things that they decided upon under the direction of Jesus Christ. What does it mean to bind and to release?
The Greek word used to bind also means to fasten, or compel, to declare to be both prohibited and unlawful. And the Greek word used to release means to dissolve, to untie, to break or destroy, to establish as nothing, to break up a meeting, and or annul. So, we can see by the definitions that the kingdom authority in the hands of those who are united with Christ Jesus is binding and is powerful. It establishes the authority of God’s kingdom under the hands of Jesus Christ.
Why would Christ give such authority to men? And who exercises such authority today?
I Will Agitate Heaven and Earth!
God has a purpose and those in authority are not always using it properly to administer God’s affairs as he would like. So, God has set forth a prophecy about the authority that governs heaven and earth.
Haggai 2:6… I am rocking the heavens and the earth and the sea and the dry ground.
The apostle Paul explains what God has met by rocking or shaking.
Hebrews 12:27… Now the expression “Yet once more” signifies the removal of the things being shaken as things that have been made, in order that the things not being shaken may remain.
God’s kingdom in the hands of Jesus Christ is used to shake things up. The things in the heavens become agitated and rock back and forth before they are removed. Because they have been and found or judged as rebellious in God’s kingdom. The disciples of Jesus Christ are being used to bring about the agitation.
Set Matters Straight
To the Spirits who are over earth and to those found in it, yes even to the unclean ones please take note.
Come and set your matters straight with us before God. Ask for mercy and or for your gifts so you may get a hearing before the kingdom of God. Receive an annulment or become bound in your attitude.
Take a knee and swear to be loyal forever to the son of God who has been made Lord of Heaven and Earth and those in the sea. Philippians 2:10-11
Come kiss the son of God and see that he is good and righteous, he is prepared to bless the living and the dead, those in heaven and on the earth. Psalms 2:12
The sovereign of the universe has given him the scrolls with the seven seals to bring about the words that he has spoken. Listen and show yourselves attentive and act in faithfulness. For you have seen God’s words come true. Revelation 5:1-14
So, seek your peace and pursue it with us and see good days ahead, eat in the kingdom of God. But act up, then you will rock back and forth, and you will gnash your teeth, for the end is rushing straight forthright. Matthew 8:11-12
I am Timothy, a servant of God and given to Christ Jesus our Lord. I have the authority to speak in the name of Jesus Christ. I have been given the keys of the kingdom and a seal ring has been put upon my hand by God.
Matthew the enforcer is to back up the righteous will of God and his Christ. We work with the faithful holy ones who have been sent forth by God, they are the faithful discreet slaves who are proving themselves true in all that they do.
Now come and set your matters straight. Isaiah 2:3-4, Micah 4:1-3
