Why is it important that we understand who are the daughters of Babylon? How is knowing this information going to benefit us today?
If we really want to understand the world we live in, we have to come to terms with the fact that we are not alone in our world. That there are other intelligent life forms living among us.
For all practical purposes we can call them dimensional beings, or some people would like to say they are spirits or fallen angels of God. No matter what you want to call them, what happens in their world directly affects the world we live in.
The Issue Humanity Faces
The foremost issue these beings faced was who really rules the world, this issue we also face as the people of earth.
The first issue that we know of that they have faced in their dimensional world is that of a lack of appreciation for authority. Next was their resistance to abide by the universal laws that were in place in their realm.
These spirit forces made choices in their realm that have greatly affected our realm, our lives. The point being is this, when they decided to put on flesh and intermingle their seed with the seed of mankind there was a consequence that led to the action by the governing authority from God.
This brought about the destruction upon what they had initiated which was a direct corruption to the DNA of humankind. With the temporary loss of being able to corrupt the DNA of mankind. They have next sought to control mankind through the process of higher learning. They have sought to gather mankind together into cities and to create mammoth projects with the purpose of disrupting the dimensional world they came from.
Again, the governing authority was forced to intervene and disrupt the channel of communication among mankind, this was to slow down their manipulation over us. This intervention by God against the rebellion they started has not ceased their ambition, or their ability to function as a force in their attempt to bring mankind under their control.
Now that we have come to terms with the belief in extraterrestrial life or dimensional beings, spirits that affect our world we can now focus on what the governing authority would like us to know and do to support their position.
In other words, are we going to be a part of this ongoing rebellion or are we going to support the concept of living under universal authority and abiding by the laws that they have established. We can either consciously make a choice for or against the rebellion or live with the consequences of our indecision. Follow the hyperlink to: God is Offering You Terms for Peace.
Once we have answered these fundamental questions, we now can turn our attention to understanding the prophetic language that has been given by this higher authority to help us cope and deal with the manipulation of humankind.
Understanding Prophetic Language
Prophetic language uses terminology in its various forms like metaphors, analogy and a simile being one example.
We have an expression where I come from to help us with the concept of a simile and it goes like this: “like father like son, like mother like daughter”.
That basically means that you can tell who is related to whom. So to, when we use prophetic language, a daughter will be a similar, a product of the mother. They will share many of the same features, though they may not exactly look alike or act alike, but you can tell that they are related because of the similar characteristics of their features. So, if we understand everything about the mother, we will then understand the daughter also.
Now we can turn to the subject matter about Babylon. We need to understand fully about Babylon and why she would have daughters and why it was sometimes called Babylon the Great. For more fuller in-depth study about Babylon the Great follow the hyperlink to: Babylon the Great
Now let us consider our theme Scripture and start to unlock some of this prophetic language to truly understand what is being said to those who want to know about the daughters of Babylon.
The Vision the Message
Zachariah 2:1-13… I looked up and saw a man with a measuring line in his hand. 2 I asked, “Where are you going?” He answered me, “To measure Jerusalem to determine its width and length.” 3 Then the angel who was speaking with me went out, and another angel went out to meet him. 4 He said to him, “Run and tell this young man: Jerusalem will be inhabited without walls because of the number of people and livestock in it.” 5 The declaration of the Lord: “I will be a wall of fire around it, and I will be the glory within it.”
Zechariah seeing the vision but writing from a Jewish perspective was very interested in the rebuilding of the city of Jerusalem after the exile from Babylon. He was interested in what was happening from a spiritual standpoint.
He is being told that the city is to be measured to the point that the growth of the city would be enormous with the blessing and protection because the glory of God would be found there in the city. This was good news to the prophet of God.
6 “Get up! Leave the land of the north (H6828 dark)”—this is the Lord’s declaration—“for I have scattered you like the four winds of heaven”—this is the Lord’s declaration. 7 “Go, Zion! Escape, you who are living with the Daughters of Babylon.” On 8 For the Lord of Hosts says this: “He has sent Me for His glory against the nations who are plundering you, for anyone who touches you touches the pupil (apple) of My eye. 9 I will move against them with My power, and they will become plunder for their own servants. Then you will know that the Lord of Hosts has sent Me.
God next reminds this people to the fact that he was the one that sent them away into darkness and without his favor, he had given them over into the hands of his enemies Babylon.
Next, he calls upon those who understand the importance of Zion to escape the influence of Babylon. In doing so he mentions the daughters of Babylon. Remember like mother like daughter. Now the prophet speaks (the spirit directing the message) of being sent forth for salvation against the nations, that the people of God are as precious, as valuable, as sensitive as the eye of God.
To whom his people were in servitude to they would now experience a type of destruction. We need to understand that God is the one that is in control of those who trust in him and trust in the one sent forth in his name.
10 “Daughter Zion, shout for joy and be glad, for I am coming to dwell among you”—this is the Lord’s declaration. 11 “Many nations will join themselves to the Lord on that day and become My people (Isaiah 19:22-25). I will dwell among you, and you will know that the Lord of Hosts has sent Me to you. 12 The Lord will take possession of Judah as His portion in the Holy Land, and He will once again choose Jerusalem. 13 Let all people be silent before the Lord, for He is coming from His holy dwelling.
Now the people of Jerusalem (daughter of Zion) are called to rejoice because God has promised to reside with them. To the point that there is going to be an expansion of the existing city. The Lord will take his portion or inheritance, the city of Jerusalem and the territory of Judah. The attention is called for all to be silent or be respectful for the Lord is coming.
So, we see that this Bible prophecy has to do with God who is from the spirit realm promising to reside in the fleshly realm with mankind. With that thought in mind let us look at another prophetic passage of Scripture found at Revelation.
The New Jerusalem
Revelation 21:1-11… Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth (Isaiah 65:17), for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea no longer existed (2 Peter 3:13). 2 I also saw the Holy City, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared like a bride adorned for her husband.
The apostle John begins to relate the vision he had been given along with the words that were spoken. He relates the time of the fulfillment for this prophecy.
When he says I saw a new heavens and new earth he’s pointing to a future fulfillment of this prophecy. Next he relates that he saw the new Jerusalem and then calls it the bride. Further down in this passage of Scripture we are told that this bride belongs to the Lamb of God, Jesus Christ the faithful one.
3 Then I heard a loud voice from the throne (heaven): Look! God’s dwelling (sanctuary or temple) is with humanity, and He will live with them. They will be His people, and God Himself will be with them and be their God. 4 He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. Death will no longer exist; grief, crying, and pain will exist no longer, because the previous things have passed away. 5 Then the One seated on the throne said, “Look! I am making everything new.” He also said, “Write, because these words are faithful and true.”
This prophecy has more details about what God intends to do with respects to the residing with mankind and the benefits that will follow. This is very similar to Zechariah chapter 2. Then God gives a guarantee saying that these things are true.
6 And He said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give water as a gift to the thirsty from the spring of life. 7 The victor will inherit these things, and I will be his God, and he will be My son. 8 But the cowards, unbelievers, vile, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars—their share will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.”
God promises to give life to those who are thirsty for his rulership, he promises to allow us an inheritance with him. He is the beginning of the covenant of life. Immediately he follows with a warning to those who refused to become his son, they are to be done away with. He list out the characteristics that are undesirable in his viewpoint.
9 Then one of the seven angels, who had held the seven bowls filled with the seven last plagues, came and spoke with me: “Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb.” 10 He then carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain and showed me the holy city, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, 11 arrayed with God’s glory. Her radiance was like a very precious stone, like a jasper stone, bright as crystal.
What a beautiful prophecy and gift that God offers to those who accept the terms for his peace.
What We Should Have Learned
We should now be able to answer that question of who are the daughters of Babylon and why it matters.
It would be any physical city that seeks to make itself great by the hand of man and under the influence from the rebellion against God.
We also should realize that God intends to create a city that will have a physical presence in our realm and that it will bring blessings to mankind.
As free moral agents we need to choose who is going to be our God and who are we going to obey.
